Welcome to Paradox!
We are a casual raiding guild on Project1999's blue server. Rilex and Vincenzo started this guild because we are veteran EQ players from original release and we want to enjoy the game again with others who long for the old days. We are casual players with raid ambitions, but our culture is more important than just loot. Many of us have seen end game in many expansions on live and have lead or participated in major guilds with multiple different characters. We will most certainly raid top targets and have a blast doing it, but we're not rushing to 60 to miss out on the best parts of the game. We're here to help one another gain levels, complete quests (yes, epic ones especially), and work together to advance as a group and enjoy the game as a team.
The guild rules are simple:
1. Respect Project1999 server rules at all times. Specifically, absolutely no boxing, camp stealing or kill stealing will be tolerated. If its against the server rules, its against the Paradox guild rules.
2. Be respectful of others. No discrimination will be tolerated of any kind, especially race, gender, age, ethnicity, religion, or political views. Keep these conversations to yourself.
3. Profanity is ok, but only if you do not violate rules 1 and 2.
4. If you are too drunk/high to properly speak in Discord, you will be muted and/or asked to leave the raid until you come back to earth.
5. Have fun!
6. New guild members will be placed on a 2 week trial period. After this 2 week period, that person will become a full member of the guild or be asked to leave the guild. Items in the Guild Bank can be requested after full member status is achieved.
7. Each guild member is encouraged to tag their Alternate (A) characters with <Paradox>, but only one (1) Loot Eligible Alt (LEA) will be allowed to roll for loot during raids. You must post your LEA to our guild roster and have it confirmed by leadership. If you decide to switch your main character to a different character, you must play the main character for at least 6 months before declaring a new main character. This is to prevent people from switching mains on a regular basis just to get gear or epics.
8. You may not have a main in another guild. If you are in <Paradox>, we should be your priority, not your 'other main' in <Aftermath>.
9. Epic quests are reserved specifically for main characters. No Loot Eligible Alts (LEA) or Alts (A) will be considered for epic raid requests.
10. If an item will rot or enter's the "greed" phase then LEA's will be afforded a chance to roll on the item assuming that the Alt is already in a place to loot the item without delaying the raid schedule or risking the safety of the raid party or is already in the raid party (a player decides to bring his cleric (LEA) instead of his rogue (Main) because it would be more beneficial to the raid party, etc.).
With any raiding guild comes raiding rules:
1. Paradox will engage in both mandatory and optional raids. All raids are considered mandatory unless specified as optional. If you are online during a mandatory raid, you must attend. If the raid is called as an optional event, you should try to attend to help your fellow guildies, but attendance will not be required.
2. All members are required to use our Discord voice chat server for all raids, no exceptions. You do not have to speak or own a microphone (although that would be awesome), but you are required to listen to raid instructions. Please download and install the app and join the Paradox Discord server at discord.gg/5hXSnSN. Your Discord name should match your main character's name. Once you join, please set up a push-to-talk hotkey under "VOICE" settings. You will be assigned a role with permission to join your respective voice/chat channels.
3. ALL LOOT is decided by random number generator (e.g. /ran 1000). The only exception to this rule is events in which we are accomplishing a specific goal for a specific person. For instance, an epic mob or quest piece for a specific player who has requested assistance with a raid or quest mob target in which case they will auto-win that item without /random.
4. ALL LOOT is first rolled on by those that NEED the item. This is referred to as "Need Before Greed" ruleset. 'Need' is defined as an item that you will use as your primary equipment in a given slot and will net you an upgrade to your character overall.
5. If nobody needs the item, the item will be FREE ROLLED by all individuals that would like a chance at that item (the 'Greed' phase).
6. You may only win 1 'major' armor item and 1 'minor armor' item per raid until all others of your class/type win a piece. This rule applies to all Kael, ToV and Planar raids. You may only win 1 item per raid for all other targets. If we visit a new zone for a new raid target, your loot chance will be reset and you can participate in need/greed rolls again for the new location.
6a. Plane of Sky will use preferential treatment to complete quest first.Sky Rules. This is applied to other multiple no drop quest like Circlet of Falinkan.
7. Organized raids or guild groups for specific purposes of achieving a specific player an item, quest piece, or other objective will guarantee that player received the item promised when it drops. (e.g., "We're going to kill some_Boss_01 to get a piece for JohnDoe's epic quest". In this scenario, JohnDoe has an opportunity to participate in rolling during need/greed but he will still be GUARANTEED the item that the event was organized around (his epic piece).
8. If you are present at the time the raid target is pulled and you are in the raid party ACTIVELY participating in the kill (e.g., not AFK), then you are allowed to participate in the need/greed roll process. For example, if JohnDoe joins the raid from the beginning and 10 minutes before we kill an_awesome_mob_01 a guildie JaneDoe makes her way to the raid party and ACTIVELY assists in the killing of an_awesome_mob_01, JaneDoe will be allowed to roll on ANY loot that drops from that mob, respecting the previously stated rules of course.
9. This set of rules leaves the loot process up to the random number generator and keeps it fair and balanced. Those that need items will upgrade their equipment to better our team and move us forward as a unit.
10. We will not consider a DKP system. We feel this system has its pros and cons but is not the system we will use for our guild. This decision was made to keep the issues around DKP systems from plaguing our guild. If you lose an item because you rolled low, you will eventually have your chance to roll high and revel in the glory of sweet loot. Be patient, have fun, and enjoy it when your guild mates get awesome items too. It's about everyone.
If you have any issues, please contact Vincenzo, Quenith, Bunnii, Kavalier, Vitaani, Yolos, or Djynni in game or on the forums.
Cheers!
